About the Garden

The Opportunities and Planned Outcomes:

The Garden(s) of Refuge represents a convergence of these critical issues. It is a physical space that transcends geographical boundaries and acts as a beacon of hope and resilience. This garden will be situated both at the University of Cincinnati and TU Dortmund University, serving as a testament to our transatlantic commitment. While being two spaces in two cities, they would be joined by a shared vision for a value based humanistic approach for the future.

Student Engagement: The project will include student ideas, suggestions, initiatives, and engagement.

Fostering Community: The Garden(s) of Refuge will be a space where students, scholars, and the wider community can come together, exchange ideas, and find a sense of belonging.

Environmental Sustainability: This project will contribute to biodiversity, air quality, and sustainable agriculture, aligning with the pressing need to combat climate change.

Mental and Physical Well-being: The garden will provide a serene environment that promotes mental and physical well-being, offering a respite from the demands of academic and daily life.

Cultural Exchange: By nurturing this green space, we aim to promote cultural exchange and a deeper understanding of diverse backgrounds, fostering tolerance and inclusivity.

Educational Opportunities: The garden will serve as an outdoor classroom, offering unique learning opportunities about sustainability, agriculture, and the environment.
